MY APPROACH

I grew up in a family that cherished telling stories and sharing photographs. I remember sitting with my grandparents for ages and going through their old albums and talking about the moments that were taking place at the time their photographs were being taken. It's because of this, that documenting stories is now one of my favourite things to do.

For me, shooting a wedding (or any other shoot) is about so much more than getting 'insta worthy' or perfect images. Connection, love and storytelling is what drew me to weddings and something I aim to capture at every single wedding or shoot that I capture.

Because of this I try to take a fly on the wall, non-obtrusive approach to everything I document. I like to photograph things as they unfold. Whether you are just chilling drinking beers with your mates, having your bridesmaids apply deodorant for you or the first time that your nearest and dearest see you. I really believe that it is this mish-mash of small moments that really contributes to the story of your wedding day.

While I do enjoy documenting things as they naturally unfold, I do still give direction and take control when needed. This ensures that you get a perfect blend of documentary style imagery with some editorial feel as well.

I feel that this approach translates into my editing as well. I try and keep the tones and colour pallet as close to 'real' as possible. At the same time i do love some drama as well, which may sneak its way into some images in the form of a dramatic black and white or a slightly moodier image.

Overall, my approach is to create timeless images that tell the story of your wedding day in a natural and authentic way.

I understand that for most people, this is their first wedding or first shoot. I am here to ensure that your experience is as stress free as possible. Need help with timelines? No problem, I will put together a rough draft for you. Needing some help finding a florist/make up artist/DJ? I'm your gal. Let me know what you have in mind, and i will try my best to assist!

I do also understand that not everyone is comfortable or enjoys being in front of the camera (me neither, thats why i'm a photographer). Rest assured that I will guide you and help you through your session so that you get the best photographs of the two of you together. I will encourage you to embrace the weird, the awkward and silly-ness that the two of you share and experience when in front of the camera. It sounds weird and feels weird, BUT 90% of of the time, if you go with the flow and trust the process, you will get images that are nothing short of INCREDIBLE!
